INTRODUCTION
We met in a community yoga class in 2006 right after we had both retired from teaching. And so began a deep and lasting friendship with miles of walking, talking, sharing, and getting to know each other over coffee and herb tea. This little book has developed during our early Thursday morning walks.
Over time, we discovered where local trails could be linked together with City parks and refreshment stops to create more than nine loop walks. Not only were we able to enjoy each invigorating walk, we also completed a yoga practice, and then celebrated the completion of our walk with good food and friendship. We realized that our simple explorations and steadfast commitment to meet and walk every Thursday had evolved into something quite wonderful. In fact, the walks and yoga became so delightful that we wanted to share them with others.
These particular nine loop walks were selected primarily because of their natural beauty, accessibility or challenge, and variety. If you complete all nine walks, you will have an excellent grasp of what our lovely community has to offer. Each walk has its own unique aspect or payoff including breathtaking views, nature and wildlife, history, and even a redwood forest. As you walk, you will also encounter many enthusiastic and friendly people walking alone, in groups, and with their dogs. We have developed a heartfelt appreciation and deep sense of community through these walks as we have explored every corner of Yorba Linda in every season.
